Supported versions: iOS 13.0 or higher, Android 7.0 or higher
You can switch to dark mode if your device is supported.
- Open SmartNews.
- Pull down on your screen until you see the Search bar. Tap on the profile icon in the righthand corner, then tap
to open the Settings page.
- Follow the remaining steps, specific to your device type.
- iOS (iOS 13.0 or higher)
- Tap [Dark Mode] and pick your preference
- [System Default] - the app follows the OS setting
- [Always Light] - the app always uses Light mode
- [Always Dark] - the app always uses Dark mode
- Tap [Dark Mode] and pick your preference
- Android (Android 7.0 or higher)
- Tap [Theme] and pick your preference
- [System default] - the app follows the OS setting
- [Light] - the app always uses the Light theme
- [Dark] - the app always uses the Dark theme
- [System default] - the app follows the OS setting
- Tap [Theme] and pick your preference
[NOTE]
- The default theme is [System Default] (iOS) and [System default] (Android).
- If your device version is Android 9.0 or less, the battery saver function of the device will influence SmartNews’s dark mode function. SmartNews may automatically switch to the dark theme when the battery saver is on. Once you turn off the function, SmartNews may return to the light theme.

- Open your device’s [Setting] page > [Battery] > [Battery Saver]
- Swipe from the top to the bottom of your screen. When the [MENU] appears, if [Battery saver] is greyed out, it’s off. If it’s not, it’s on.
