How To Manage Your Notifications

If you no longer want SmartNews alerts on your phone, you can turn off notifications from inside the app. These steps are the same on iOS and Android.

Turn off notifications in the SmartNews app

1. Open the SmartNews app and tap the Profile tab in the bottom bar. If you do not see the bottom bar, drag down on any channel tab to make the Profile icon appear.
2. Tap the Settings gear icon in the top right corner.
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Toggle the switches on or off for each category to customize your alerts.

Optional: turn off notifications in your phone settings

If you want to block all SmartNews alerts at the device level:

iOS

1. Open Settings
2. Tap Notifications
3. Tap SmartNews
4. Turn off Allow Notifications

Android

1. Open Settings
2. Tap Apps (or Apps & notifications)
3. Tap SmartNews
4. Tap Notifications
5. Turn off notifications (or disable specific categories)
6. If you still get notifications after turning them off
7. Force close SmartNews and reopen it
8. Double-check both the in-app Notification toggles and your phone’s notification settings
9. Restart your device
