If SmartNews notifications aren’t arriving even though everything looks enabled, try the steps below.
Before you start
* If you recently reinstalled SmartNews, switched devices, or changed notification settings, delivery may take time to fully stabilize (up to 7 days).
Step 1: Check SmartNews notification settings
1. Open SmartNews
2. Tap Profile (bottom right)
3. Tap Settings (gear)
4. Tap Notifications
5. Turn notifications off, then back on
Step 2: Check your phone’s notification settings
iOS (iPhone/iPad)
1. Open iPhone Settings
2. Tap Notifications
3. Tap SmartNews
4. Allow Notifications: ON
5. Alerts, Sounds, and Badges: ON (as preferred)
Android
1. Open Android Settings
2. Tap Apps (or Apps & notifications)
3. Tap SmartNews
4. Tap Notifications
5. Turn notifications ON and enable the categories you want
Step 3: Allow background activity
iOS
1. iPhone Settings > General > Background App Refresh
2. Turn Background App Refresh ON, and enable SmartNews
Android
1. Android Settings > Battery (or Battery & device care)
2. Find Battery optimization / Background usage limits
3. Make sure SmartNews is allowed to run in the background (not Sleeping/Restricted)
Step 4: Restart and test
1. Restart your device
2. Open SmartNews and scroll for a minute
3. Wait a bit and check if notifications begin arriving
