Who is affected?
This change affects users currently using the SmartNews app on devices running Android 8.0 or Android 8.1.
How does this affect the app?
After April 13, 2026, you can still use the version of the app already installed on your device. However, you will not be able to update to newer versions of SmartNews. This means you will not receive new features, performance improvements, or bug fixes. We cannot guarantee that the app will continue to function correctly on these older operating systems.
Recommended Action:
Update your OS We strongly recommend updating your device to Android 9.0 or higher to ensure you have the latest features and security updates.
How to check and update your Android version:
Open your device Settings app.
Tap System, then tap System update.
You will see your current Android version.
If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it.

What if my device cannot update to Android 9.0?
